The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, stated during an official mission to China that the government will soon publish the ordinance for the exclusive capacity reserve auction for batteries.

This Sunday (11), a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Chinese state-owned company Windey Energy Technology Group and Senai Cimatec. One of the focuses of the agreement is the development of energy storage.

“We will soon publish an ordinance establishing the rules for Brazil’s first battery auction. Any solution to stabilize the system is welcome. We have a vast market and we need to prepare the workforce and seek technologies. The partnership with SENAI CIMATEC meets this desire of the Brazilian electricity sector,” he highlighted.

According to the government, the partnership also includes the creation of a research and development center in Brazil focused on wind energy and green hydrogen solutions. It also includes initiatives to bring clean energy to remote agricultural areas, encourage the installation of equipment factories in the country and mitigate cuts in renewable generation connected to the electricity grid.

The project will operate in several regions, focusing on energy solutions integrated with agriculture, promoting sustainable irrigation and regional development. The cooperation also includes studies for t participation in COP30, in November, in Belém (PA), with the aim of presenting the initiative's progress to the international community.

To ensure alignment with public policies, a Strategy Committee will be created to coordinate actions in conjunction with federal government programs. The memorandum is initially valid for 24 months, with the possibility of extension.
