Siemens Energy aims to decarbonize its operations in Brazil

According to the company, the objective is to eliminate carbon emissions by 2030 in the country.

The quest to boost the low-carbon economy continues at full steam, or rather, at sustainable steps among the companies from different segments around the world

Following this global trend, Siemens Energy announced measures to eliminate its emissions in Brazil by 2030. According to the announcement, the company has already managed to meet 57% of this target between 2014 and 2020.

To achieve this objective, the company created an internal investment fund for CO₂ neutralization projects, which will be fed back based on the pricing of emissions from its activities in the country, which is the company's second location in the world to replicate the program, implemented previously in the United Kingdom.

Another point highlighted by Siemens is that energy efficiency solutions are already being implemented at the company's own locations, such as the use of renewable energy at its headquarters in Brazil and the gradual replacement of the use of polluting fuels with less harmful alternatives.

Sustainable

According to Siemens, the company has already helped customers around the world reduce their emissions by more than 48 million tons of carbon dioxide during fiscal year 2019.

Furthermore, they help in the construction of hybrid plants, which combine generation technologies with battery storage, and transmission equipment that avoids the use of SF6 – a harmful greenhouse gas – in addition to hydrogen electrolyzers, essential for the development of called green hydrogen
