Vol.6, N°2 – April/2025
Dear readers,
The year 2025 begins with strategic debates that should directly influence the direction of the energy sector in Brazil. The first few months have already shown that topics such as storage, regulation and new business models will continue to be at the center of discussions — and in this issue of the Magazine Canal Solar, we have gathered reports, interviews and articles that help us understand the transformations underway and the challenges that still need to be faced to consolidate a more modern, efficient and accessible system. Among the highlights of this edition, we bring an analysis of what is behind the success of M&A operations in the electricity sector. More than a negotiation, mergers and acquisitions involve strategy, governance and long-term vision — elements that can define the success or failure of these movements.
In the legal field, we discussed rural lease agreements in renewable energy projects, a topic that is gaining relevance as solar plants advance into productive areas and demand legal certainty for all involved. With the growing appreciation of environmental assets, we have dedicated an article to the carbon credit market, with an important warning: the sale of these credits by solar plants must be accompanied by robust regulations, otherwise it risks opening the door to fraud and compromising the credibility of the entire system.
In the special reports, we address the obstacles to accessing energy in remote regions of the country, and show how the search for autonomy has been growing among residential consumers, who have invested in battery systems to minimize the effects of constant power outages and increase their independence from the grid.
